The Future of AI will Require us to Evolve Psychologically
AI is everywhere, whether we're always aware of it or not. In our social media feeds, videos that are indistinguishable from the real thing, simultaneously interwoven with the texts we read. Whether it's directly written by AI or indirectly influenced by the extensive use of it, that shapes our communication.
AI continues to develop, much faster than our psychology can keep up.
AI makes things so easy, so effortless, without us having to think for ourselves anymore. Because AI can "think" for us, and can write our reports or create images. Oh well, that can’t hurt if we use it mindful right... And yet, even AI has its fingerprints. These can be blatantly obvious in the use of block text interspersed with a "—" hyphen. But they can also be much more subtle, almost impossible to discern with the naked eye.
Intuition versus deep learning AI
AI operationalizes part of our own intuition because deep learning technology sees patterns that we perceive but cannot translate (Madhusudan, 2025). Therefore, distinguishing between AI and human-written text isn't about thinking or seeing, but about feeling and developing a stronger intuition as humanbeings (Högberg, 2026). Sometimes you might see a video and not be able to put your finger on it, but you'll strongly feel that "something's not right."
That's about our intuition, about our sixth sense, which we can further develop if we pay attention to its interaction with the world.
Our psychology is not yet, a match for quantum technology
If we want our human psychology to keep pace with the deep-learning speed of AI, we will have to learn to evolve beyond current empirical observation. Because there will come a time in the (near) future when quantum technology intersects with AI and eventually becomes part of our society. This will completely turn our world upside down. Among other reasons, quantum technology cannot (easily)be protected against, and because it operates at a dimensional level that we ourselves cannot mimic yet.
Example: Imagine you're looking for a single grain of sand in a desert.
1. A binary computer quickly picks up each individual grain of sand, one by one, to see if it's the right one. Theoretically, if you have a lot of time on your hands as a human, you could do that.
2. An AI scans the desert and, based on pattern recognition, selects large areas where the grain of sand you're looking for is most likely to be found. This is a bit more difficult for humans, although we also have pattern recognition skills.
3. A quantum computer, on the other hand, can consider all the grains of sand at once and, through that process, amplifies the chance of immeadiatley finding the right grain.
Our psychology did not evolve yet to intuitively understand such realities, not yet…
Therefore, an eye for the mystical.
This form of technology, which will eventually merge with our society, will force us to consider our reality in another light. And will learn us to be open to that what we are currently viewing as ‘mystical’, or more scientifically: the non-physical intuitive level. To that edge in our lives that we currently explain in terms of spirituality, religion, or "sheer coincidence,". The aspects of our experiences as humanbeings that in itself are more likely about how our universe works and how we are all intertwined in its fabrics, continuously connected. About underlying quantum fields that ultimately also shape our psychology as it is. Because we, together and alone, are the entire desert.
Because you and I, we're not as different as we sometimes think! Together, we stand on the cusp of the next step in human consciousness.
A consciousness and psychology of humans adapting to a world surrounded by artificial intelligence and ultimately quantum technology. Humans who can zoom out from their ego, humans unafraid to lose themselves because the "self" will always be linked to others and will sway with the forces of our universe, which make us, "us." If only we dare to be open, to the mystical, the non physical level, to that level of unease in our experiences which we find most daunting. Because we do not yet understand our own role in this universe, and therefor sometimes prefer to ridicule everything that transcents our own views.
